Fearless Chiro

We humans have a tendency for the ‘silver bullet’ approach, the “just give me the quick fix” method of achieving goals and results.  As a black or white person myself, I completely understand this.  My impatience often makes it challenging to allow the principle of time to do it’s work.

Robert Collier is quoted as saying “Success is the result of small efforts — repeated day in and day out.”

As a nutritional product formulator I see this weakness of human resolve on a daily basis.  “Don’t tell me I need to eat better, just give me a product that will give me the results I want and allow the lifestyle that feels good at the time!”  Discipline in diet, exercise, or chiropractic — really anything that produces a result of real value, produces quality in body, spirit and mind.

Balance is the ability to design our daily actions to create the results we desire a fragment at a time.  Whether it is designing the optimal physique, the perfect practice, the relationship of our dreams…the most effective technique is to love yourself enough to allow it in to being…with balance, in its own time.

This of course conflicts with the accepted method of ‘success’.  Action motivated by fear and lack rather than the balanced, allowing action of Spirit.

My goal today is to allow balance rather than pursue need for a quick fix.  Good therapy for my impatient fear-mind.

IN-JOY your day!

I just finished a tremendous book written by Anita Moorjani sharing her near-death experience.  Dying To Be Me is this author’s best effort at explaining the incredible life-altering journey beyond the veil and back.

In the years before her path through “terminal” cancer she was like many of us…confused and lost in the illusion and identity of fear.  She shares how that when she came to the place of awareness and surrender, truly understanding that she was the author and creator of her experience, she entered a ‘knowing’ of the virtue of allowing.

Esther Hicks, in The Law of Attraction, explains that acknowledging that we are the creator of our experience, that we attract what we resonate and that no one or thing outside of our self is to blame for where we are….this is where we come to know the art of allowing.  And this she says, is the most difficult to accept, and to practice.

Allowing is impossible when we have an agenda based on fear.  It eludes us when we are convinced that we need to change the people and the world around us.  When we are blind to the fact that the world changes in response to our healing.  In that sense we are truly the center and creator of our universe.

Sounds pretty self-centered doesn’t it?  Pretty darn selfish!  As I learned and then shared in my book, Soaring Beyond Fear, this is truly the greatest step in allowing peace to rule in our life.  I admit that at times I still have room to focus more on this art.  Allow.  Breathe.  And let BE.

Then the miracles ensue….

In-Joy your day!

I really loved this little quote that came my way the other day….

“Fear is that little darkroom where negatives are developed.” – Michael Pritchard

For fear to gain a foothold and exert it’s less than positive effects in our lives, it must be allowed to stay.  It is only by intention that fear is asked to leave and our heart and mind remain unclouded with doubt and uncertainty.  When we share the photos of our inner thoughts with the world, are they negatives or full color potentials and possibilities?

Again the primary factor seems to be our daily intentions.  Do we arise each morning with a meditation of clear intention or do we slip back into the default mode of fear, negativity, remorse and then penitent re-action?

Our lives are an on-going development of expression as we navigate the challenges and joys of each day.  What is the picture that will be portrayed to my sphere of influence today?

So spend a few minutes each morning taking stock of your “dark room”….what do you see developing there and how can it be re-created?  Live and love today…you will be amazed at the return on the investment!

IN-JOY your DAY!

With 25 years of chiropractic under my belt and with a recently sold practice, a person might think that all I would have on my mind is a sandy beach and lots of water and sun…

Well, there was some of that for a few months however tomorrow I begin a new chapter sharing life and wellness with those who are searching.  I am opening an office in a new paradigm for me…fun, joy, service and NO INSURANCE (Ok, mostly no insurance…).  With my speaking, nutritional formulation, research, technique instructing, consulting…you would think I would have plenty to do.  Well that is true, however I do miss the hands-on aspect of how we live and serve.

So I am opening office number three with a tangible and striking absence of the old motivator…fear.  I can recall the early days of my first two offices.  The survival mentality, the edge of panic in making it happen.  This time around I will focus more on the law of attraction and allowing Great Spirit to provide…me with patients and new learning experiences.

With inattention to our solid foundation of confidence and knowing we can allow doubt to sow the seed of fear.  This time around my intention is to meet each day with joy and peace.  Peace that is the result of having lived so many years in fear and now determined to walk down another street.

I love Portia Nelson’s poem…

Autobiography in 5 Short Chapters
a poem by Portia Nelson, published in her book
There’s a Hole in My Sidewalk: The Romance of
Self-Discovery

Chapter I

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk

I fall in.

I am lost … I am
helpless.
It isn’t my
fault.
It takes forever
to find a way out.

Chapter II

I walk down
the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t
see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.

But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter III

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep
hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s
a habit … but,
my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is
my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter IV

I walk
down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk
around it.

Chapter V

I walk down another street.

So here’s to blazing a new trail…a new street…with understanding and gratitude gained from previous journey’s accomplished,

IN-JOY your LIFE!

The Wikipedia definition of “coincidence” is defined as something happening that is “uncanny, accidental or unexpected”.   The word is derived from the Latin cum- (“with”, “together”) and incidere (a composed verb from “in” and “cadere“: “to fall on”, “to happen”).

From a spiritual perspective, coincidence is more accurately defined as the intentional creation of events that show up in our life at our request.  The art is being able to manage this universal law to the advantage of our spiritual unfolding and the enhancement of the intentional path of others.

I had an experience this week that reminded me of the power of this.  I was traveling to Oregon to speak to a nutritional forum and en route took a call from a gentleman challenged with high blood pressure and attempting to solve his condition by nutritional means.  His question, and my eventual answer, initiated a succession of “coincidental” events (including being up half the night poring over nutritional resources) that led me to one of the most pivotal discoveries of my life.

My point being that a seemingly random event such as a phone call, coincided with the point in my journey that resulted in an “aha!” that was highly rewarding for me AND for those I was serving in the nutritional event.

Now our “work” is to be open and in receiving mode for these episodes of “coincidence”.  Anger, fear, misery, worry, etc. can all block the universal highway of coincidence.  Being open is just that…the “being” that is necessary with the absence of fearful “doing”.

Everything in the universe is connected on this multiple-laned expressway of creation.  John Muir said…. “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”  –  John Muir, Scottish-American environmentalist and writer

It will arrive when invited by our intention, in the absence of the destructive catalyst of fear.  Again, our job is not to chase down and force the coincidences of life….our work is to erase the fear, the worry, the doubt that closes our eyes to the magic of coincidence.

IN-JOY your LIFE!

“A committee is a group of the unprepared, appointed by the unwilling to do the unnecessary.”  –Fred Allen, American comedian

A common fear is the hesitation to be different.  We are encouraged to mill around in the herd.  Those that are creative are often criticized, sometimes very harshly throughout human history.

It is uncomfortable at times to strike out in our own unique direction, it can be very lonely, however the rewards are immense.  I just finished reading a biography of Alfred Nobel.  He was a brilliant man, but like many of genius, a troubled soul.  The number of his patents was only surpassed by Thomas Edison.  His passion was intense, his vision unstoppable, yet he suffered with self-doubt his entire life.

Can you imagine the heights of success you could realize by leaving doubt and uncertainty by the side of your path?  What would that be like?

Dare to imagine a life with absolutely no limits and NO FEAR!  Leave the herd behind and be the leader your intention intended.  It has been said that the greatest tragedy is to come to the end of this life with your song unsung, your visions unrealized.

Re-write your obituary and prepare to be amazed!

IN-JOY your LIFE!

“Act on inspiration rather than attempting to force it into existence with a fear re-action”.

Every wonder why the same drama and challenges continue to show up in your life?  Feeling beat up by the world?  It might be wise to take a look at what your invitation to Source is made of.

I have found that the primary value of mediation is an allowing of insight prior to moving into action.  Esther Hick’s calls this “segment intending”.  For each segment of the day, take a deep breath, observe your heart beat, your rate of breathing…the level of adrenaline in your system and plan.  Intend each part of your day.  See it unfolding without stress and fear.  It might be helpful to take a literal step back, or if sitting at your computer, straighten your shoulders and spine, push back from the keyboard and breathe.

The creative intent preceding each chapter of your day is powerful beyond measure, and too often beyond imagination.  Bring it and the result into your experience with measured, heart-felt intention.  You will be pleased with the result.

IN-JOY your day!

A friend the other day reminded me of the nature of fear, and how it can preclude us from experiencing the “magic” in life.

Jessica Hagy portrays this so simply and beautifully in her graphical depiction….sort of “a picture is worth a thousand words” way:

http://thisisindexed.com/2010/11/stretching-is-good-stuff/

For a time our “comfort zone” can be comfortable, yet eventually our innate creative spirit will draw us to the magic.  The magnetism of this can be very powerful, often creating a tension between Spirit and the fear-mind.  With conscious awareness of this dynamic we can observe and move into the wonder of this spiritual expansion.  However when identified with fear, the threat of this metaphysical movement creates resistance and pain.

How do we remain committed to our conscious journey?  And not miss the Magic?  Understand our fear.  Sincerely remain committed to observing the insidious conditioning of the fear-mind.

Dare!  Take risks!  Be audacious enough to break the comfort bubble and soar into the magic of joyfully experiencing LIFE!

How will you escape your bubble of fear and the illusion of comfort this week?  Only you know!

IN-JOY your journey….

Several posts on FaceBook have prompted an idea I must write down…

If we were to distill out all the fear motivated belief’s from our much cherished and defended positions…what would be left?  Would it be, as is so eoloquently phrased in the song by Kansas, “dust in the wind”?

Whether it is religious belief, political rhetoric, patriotic fervor and dogma, or even chiropractic “truth”; how much of what we ‘believe’ and therefore defend is really just an intellectual response to fear?

My boys have been raised to the ripe ‘old’ ages of 16, 19, 21 and 23 (and my wife’s three girls as well) with a healthy infusion of…shall I say, an ability to call B.S. when they see it (again, I use the initials B.S. to allude to ‘belief system’, of course I am sure that was your first thought as well).  They were raised initially as I was in a very conservative religious environment, however the difference is that their father (yours truly) deviated from the “truth” and wandered down the path of spiritual conciousness.

I must say I am very pleased with the result.  The conversations around the kitchen counter and dinner table sometimes challenge my long held traditional belief systems, even those intellectually set aside.  What is interesting for me is that the old buttons are still there, and likely will be for quite some time.  The kids don’t seem to have these issues.

They see right through the fog of fear-based belief…at times their opines seem cynical and harsh, yet often with reflection I am humbled by their sophomoric wisdom.  “Out of the mouth of babes” the saying goes.  I smile with warm pride and thankfulness at their journey thus far through life….mostly far removed from the fear baggage that attended the bulk of my journey.

What are you defending today?  Is your “truth” spawned from fear?  Maybe not all of it surely, however have you taken stock?  This New Year of 2012 is well under way, the Mayans predict radical change, some say all will be swept away…as dust in the wind.  What will you have left when you remove the fear and re-connect with your Spirit resonating Source?

Good questions I feel to start this ’new age’….

Namaste and live your life IN-JOY this year,

Perry

As we enter this new year, this is actually a very good question.  Without a clear understanding of a
consciousness long nurtured and conditioned in fear, the planning may indeed be
accomplished and influenced by our fear-mind.

What do I mean by your “fear-mind”?  We are born into this physical reality and
spiritual presence without the baggage of fear.   This must be learned.  And depending on our nurturing team (parents,
caretakers, teachers, pastors, etc.) most of us learn the language of fear very
well.

In fact, as we approach the age of reason and application of
wisdom, a time to chart the direction of our life, we may indeed be severely
crippled with fear.  Our motivation to
set goals and accomplish visions can then become guided by avoidance of pain
rather than the acknowledgement of our spiritual worth.

Therefore it is important to see the distinction of who we
really are, on a conscious spiritual basis, and who we think we are…namely the
identity personality assumed in fear and the residue of unworthiness.

Many people miss this distinction.  Some may arrive at this knowing following a
personal crisis.  Others may achieve
“enlightenment” through gradual and consistent spiritual work.  However arrived, the goal is the place of the
observer.  Seeing our fear which quite
simply allows a quiet observation and a platform of conscious action.

Set your goals and vision from the foundation of the
observer in you.  See where you have a
tendency to react in fear, to choose a course of action in desperation, rather
than calm assurance and worthiness.

It is all in the observation….really no “work” to do.  Just “be” the observer.

Namaste and blessings to all in this New Year,

Yours IN-JOY,

Perry
