Believe it or not, most people can do the HCG Diet, however, these are the cautions I recommend. Do not offer the HCG Diet to anyone with: CANCER, TYPE I DIABETES or EPILEPSY nor a PREGNANT FEMALE. I also would not recommend the HCG Diet to someone who is: MENTALLY CHALLENGED, HIGHLY MEDICATED, DEPRESSED or someone who follows certain types of VEGETARIANISM.
With that said, let me add a little more information for further clarification.
CANCER PATIENTS: If one of your clients has “HAD” cancer in the past, I would recommend providing adequate HCG Diet information for them to take to his/her oncologist. If your Client receives written medical clearance, technically they are now under a medical umbrella. This should allow you to feel comfortable to let them start the diet. Of course during the course of the HCG Diet, refer your client back to their doctor if they experience anything OTHER THAN positive results.
TYPE I DIABETES: Since these folks are insulin dependent, they are not the best candidates for the “Less Experienced” HCG Diet Coach, or someone without training on the various situations that arise with people on the HCG Diet.
EPILEPSY: I personally worked with a 19 year old male with epilepsy, but it was in tandem with my medi-spa medical doctor. From the standpoint of what your professional liability might be if he/she experienced a seizure while on the HCG Diet, remember that you might be held liable and it would be a personal decision if you want to assume the risk.
PREGNANT FEMALE: Surprisingly enough, I have had quite a few people, including Practitioners, ask me if someone who is pregnant can do the HCG Diet. A pregnant female should not be doing any type of weight reduction program while pregnant nor while nursing.
MENTALLY CHALLENGED: There are people who have trouble following directions and understanding information. I classify these people as ‘mentally challenged’. My personal experience has been that they are not good candidates for the HCG Diet due to these issues and a high failure rate.
HIGHLY MEDICATED: These are people who are often times on pain killers, anti-depressants and other types of behavior modification medications. My personal experience has been that they are not good candidates for the HCG Diet due to these issues and a high failure rate. Also, add to the mix that some medications encourage weight gain, which creates an even stronger uphill battle.
DEPRESSED: Based on my observations and experience over an 18 month time frame in 2007-2008 with HCG Dieters, I’d like to point out 3 things about prescription HCG and/or homeopathic HCG “drops” with amino acids: (1) mild depression sometimes improves; however (2) mild depression SURFACES; and (3) underlying severe depression becomes exaggerated. Therefore, the HCG Diet products I developed are carefully formulated with ingredients to effectively addresses many underlying functional imbalances and have eliminated these problems.
VEGETARIANS: There are so many types of vegetarians. As long as someone eats fish, they should do just fine on the HCG Diet and on the maintenance plan. However, the vegetarians who return to soy based products as their main protein staple, won’t do well long term with maintained weight loss.

It is my understanding that the HCG product in the GNC stores not longer have the actual HCG hormone in the drops. If it is not in the product how can they still call it HCG?
April 2nd, 2011 at 12:06 pm
Yes, you are correct! I am disappointed that the FTC has not taken that product off the market! If you look closely it says: HCG Solution.. It’s NOTHING more than amino acids, which you can purchase 2 bottles of amino acids for 16 bucks at puritan pride… Don’t be mislead by that company! You can check out the products I formulated at http://www.HCGDietPlan.com and if you need more help, please let me know.

I am 25 yrs old, male, 185 lbs. and 5’9″. Not in good shape, but just started a “cross fit” pretty intense workout program. I really want to lose my belly fat and love handles fast, and i dont think the workout program will do it as fast as I’d like. My mom did hCG diet and lost 30 lb in like 40 days. I’ve been secretively considering it…but not sure whether I should try it (especially 500 cal.) while working out so hard.. what do you think?
May 7th, 2011 at 11:53 am
Great Question! To continue exercising during the HCG Diet, you’ll need to supplement with electrolytes, trace minerals and extra potassium. Depending on how ‘intense’ your exercise is, you may need to reduce it while on the HCG Diet.

Is it safe for someone with nonalcholic hepatitis to do the HcG diet?
May 18th, 2011 at 9:29 pm
I don’t see why not, but check with your doctor first. If you don’t drink, I would suspect you perhaps eats a lot of sugar?

I have a boy he is 15 years old can I start withe him the hcg dite?
June 16th, 2011 at 7:08 pm
My STRONG recommendation would be with a Professional Practitioner that knows how to over see this diet and has worked with kids! PLEASE don’t do this with internet “coaches” and webbers.

How would someone in Seattle find an experienced HCG coach for a Type 1 diabetic?
July 27th, 2011 at 6:30 pm
Anyone advertising the HCG diet in your area can be contacted and you can ask them for documentation of their experience with working with Type I Diabetes and referrals of those folks.

Can a woman who is on an insulin pump for type II diabetes, and takes oral meds for hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol do the HCG diet? She wants to lose some quick weight for a wedding, but also keep it off, and asking me as a nurse for advice.

Is it safge for a 19 year old male to do the HCG Diet for one cycle?
September 13th, 2011 at 9:27 am
A person with this many health issues has a lot more going on than just weight issues, and while the HCG Diet is extraordinary at helping people lose a great deal of abnormal fat, it is not a panacea cure for other health problems. Someone like this profile you refer to needs to work to also restore other underlying functions.

Are their very high risk involved if a person with epilepsy where to do the HCG diet?
October 18th, 2011 at 11:24 pm
In regard to someone who has epilepsy, I personally have not seen it effect an epileptic adversely. If there are any risks associated normally with a low fat diet and seizures, there would be a correlation, however, the HCG does not contribute to seizures.

Hello! I have type I diabetes, I’m really not concerned about hypoglucemias since I’m a control freak and test myself up to 10 times a day, what worries me is the risk of ketoacidosis because of the dramatic reduction of insulin because of the VLCD, am I right? What are other risks for a type I diabetic during the HCG diet?
Thank you very much for your answer.
November 7th, 2011 at 8:42 am
Not sure what you mean by ‘what you should have lost’, but good for you! With the research you are doing on yourself, I would recommend you become a supporter and member of the HCG Diet Council.org. It is an organization I founded to to Standardized Research on the HCG Diet.

I am pre-diabetic, have an enlarged heart and high blood pressure. I am taking 5 meds and need to lose about 80lbs. My doctor did not do any blood work or EKG before prescribing HCG and I’m concerned if I should start the injections without this being done.
November 10th, 2011 at 11:00 am
Thanks for your comment Wendy. Let me know if you have a particular question in regard to this I can answer for you.
November 11th, 2011 at 1:11 pm
I would HIGHLY recommend you work with your primary care physician in conjunction with an adequately trained HCG Diet Coach. I wouldn’t think any Medical Licensed Dr would allow a Patient to begin ANY diet or change of regime with your health challenges without a full medical work up from either them and/or your Primary care Physician. I hope this answer helps. Trust your instincts too.

Hello!
I have done the HCG diet 3 times over the last 5 years to get off 10 or 15 pounds and it has been AMAZING!!! I got off birthcontrol 9 months ago and have experienced some hormonal changes etc.. I just tried HCG again to get off 10 pounds and for 1 week I had no weight loss..? this highly concerned me so I have an appt. with my Dr. Any thoughts??
November 14th, 2011 at 8:17 am
Heep me out with a little more detail. You started on the HCG Diet and did not lose any weight the very first week?
November 15th, 2011 at 8:44 pm
Can people with heart disease who are taking medications for it do the hcg diet? Can people who have had heart surgery do the diet?
November 15th, 2011 at 8:54 pm
With the health challenges you mention, it should be perfectly fine to do the HCG Diet in conjunction with your cardiologist so you can be monitored on a regular basis. On the HCG Diet, by the end of the second week, blood sugar and blood pressure start plummeting in those who have higher than normal levels and medication needs to be adjusted accordingly IF this is also part of your health profile, all the more reason so do the diet under the direction of your medical doctor.
The rapid weight loss in this diet generally causes addition need for potassium, electrolytes and sometimes other additional minerals. Your medical doctor would also want to get updated blood work from you before you start and monitor you throughout and supplement according to your needs.
Hope that helps. (my additional advice is to do the HCG Diet in conjunction with a medical doctor that understands the HCG Diet, believes in it and knows what additional supplements are needed and when or otherwise, they’ll make you stop the diet as soon as anything changes!)
November 15th, 2011 at 8:54 pm
absolutely
November 15th, 2011 at 8:55 pm
As long as you don’t over dose on a homeopathic HCG, it should be perfectly fine. Many companies aren’t health care professionals, they’re only manufacturers and have HCG Dieters taking too much HCG Drops.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:56 pm
Were you able to find someone specializing in the HCG Diet as I recommend some time back?
November 15th, 2011 at 8:58 pm
I have had a great deal of success with younger folks on the HCG Diet, provided THEY WANT to do the diet.
November 15th, 2011 at 8:58 pm
absolutey.
November 15th, 2011 at 9:00 pm
you’ll need to reduce your exercise routine and take additional minerals, including electrolytes.

i am a 14 year old girl is it safe for me to do the hcg drops
thanks a lot
December 31st, 2011 at 11:18 pm
Short question for what probably needs more exploration of your health conditions. I don’t recommend anyone do the HCG Diet unless under the direction of a trained Health Care Professional. The internet sale of hcg “drops” has let some people to believe this is a do it your self, in-home type of program. Dr. Simeon’s was a medical physician and over saw HCG Dieters in HOSPITALS in Rome. IF the HCG DIET is done correctly with the help of a professional, it can render extraordinary results. Please don’t do this ‘at home’ by yourself or through some online self proclaimed coach. They do not have the skill, knowledge or training about electrolyte imbalance, hunger, yeast die off, candida and adrenal fatigue this diet can set off.

Hello Dr. Golden. I am a 15 Year old boy, around 183 pounds and about 5’5″. Im wondering if the HCG diet would be safe and okay for me to use at my age. Thanks!
February 15th, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Can someone under 18 do it?
February 16th, 2012 at 8:54 am
I have successfully worked with over weight people under 18. Find a knowledgeable Health care professional before starting. The HCG Diet is not a “do-it yourself-er”, like the internet would have you believe. They’re about sales and making money, we’re about the long term success of losing fat and keeping it off!
February 16th, 2012 at 8:56 am
The HCG Diet, when done correctly under the supervision of a trained health care professional, can be quite successful for most everyone. Especially in your case with the age you are…. A Professional health care provider, who understands the HCG Diet, can determine if you have any contraindications, and if not, guide you through the Diet and you’ll most likely experience some wonderful resutls!!

I’ve read on some sites that women with ovarian cysts should speak with their doctor before taking HCG. I had an ovarian cyst recently and the doctor said it was probably fine and would more than likely go away on its own. I go back next week for an ultra sound just to make 100% sure that it is not harmful, but she said she was almost positive that it wasn’t harmful. Will this effect me starting the HCG injections?
March 16th, 2012 at 7:59 pm
Making sure I understand your question, which I ‘m not sure I do:
Will your ovarian cyst affect your HCG Diet results or will hcg injections used for dieting affect your ovarian cyst or will your doctor’s opinion affect whether you do the hcg diet or not?
March 16th, 2012 at 8:50 pm
I have hbp that is under control. Will it be safe to use the HGC drops and diet to loose about 20 pounds?
March 18th, 2012 at 10:03 am
Thanks so much for your question. Blood pressure actually decreases significantly for mot people who do the HCG Diet around the end of the second week, so be sure to monitor it and adjust any medications accordingly so you don’t experience LOW Blood pressure. You can sign up for live HCG Diet coaching with me through our website if you like. http://www.HCGDietPlan.com. Become a member of the site and find out why we recommend more than just the HCG Diet.

My brother and sis-in-law did the hgc diet with fantastic results. I found out tonight they are putting their 9 year-old son on hgc. I have no idea if it under physician control. In my mind 9 is WAY too young. He is chubby, I wouldn’t say obese. I firmly believe if they took his video games away and got him active the weight would come off on it’s own. Is it safe for a child that young to be doing this? I don’t know if I should say something to them, just being an aunt and all.

I am 15 years old and I want to loose weight fast. My mom is worried that this diet will not be safe for me. So my question to you is… Is it safe for me to use?
May 15th, 2012 at 3:08 pm
Thanks so much for your question… I appreciate your concern for your nephew and here is what I can offer.
I personally worked with a 9 year old with the HCG Diet and she did perfectly fine, however I am a Health Care Provider and have overseen HCG Dieters since 2007 and have years of additional health care experience. I never recommend a do it yourself at-home HCG Diet program for ANYONE. This is a VERY restrictive program and additional support products need to be used and administered by a Health Care Provider who is adequately trained. NO ONE running an internet coaching site that is NOT a Certified or Licensed Health Care Provider should EVER be allowed to coach an HCG Dieter, nor a HEALTH store Clerk!
Under the right circumstances, the HCG Diet CAN be beneficial to an adolescent, but the ‘right circumstances’ are fairly restrictive, including the fact the child WANTS to do the program, can stick to it and (as you have pointed out) will start getting more physical exercise in the future and change bad eating habits. Hope that helps!!
May 15th, 2012 at 3:10 pm
The HCG Diet CAN be safe for someone of general good health and administered under the direction of an adequately training Health Care Professional.
